About NTFS Data RecoveryThe edge Windows NTFS a.k.a
New Technology File System has over some other file systems including its Windows predecessor FAT meaning File
Allocation Table is its incorporated features. The features are unique because they are automatic and make NTFS
data recovery less difficult. The processes involved here are known as transaction logging and cluster remapping.
Transaction logging as a process involves the O/S (operating system) taking every write action that update files as
transactions. This way they can be undone. By default transactions are either complete and then "logged in" or they
are incomplete and invariably "discarded". Consequently, transaction logging does not keep record of incomplete
transactions.
In spite of the fantastic features NTFS comes with, it is still subject to possible corruption. Therefore, to carry
out NTFS data recovery it will need third party support. However, NTFS performs better than a number of file
systems since it has a more secured capability and fails less often when compared with some others.
Data corruption as a result of certain types of hardware failure can occur with NTFS. Also, corruption of the
Master Boot Record or boot sector will definitely corrupt your data. Don't get all worked up if you fear you are
experiencing this because there is a solution to this problem.
You are carrying out a corrective measure when you do an NTFS data recovery on your boot sector if such need
arises. However, in addition to this, you should also have a preventive measure. What I mean here is that you
should create your own recovery disk. This is different from the one included in your original lap-top or computer
system (although this is hard to come by these days).
No!!! it is different. The recovery disk, which came with your computer if used to install software or applications
on your system, will ignore subsequent changes or updates you have made on your computer. Configuring your own will
obviously provide you with a better advantage.
Nevertheless, choosing to do this also carries more risk since there is a greater chance things may go wrong before
or during installation from your own recovery disk. Therefore, it may be better or should I say safer for you to
visit your manufacturer's site for more instructions. This of course is usually the more expensive option.
Please take note that the NTFS data recovery features mentioned here are in regard to a trait known as self-healing
NTFS, which is found in more recent versions of Windows like Windows server 2008.
